Before the start

Before you really start cleaning your garden house, we recommend that you remove possible decorations and other elements from the facade and clean them separately. Then you can devote yourself directly to the care of your work.

The right cleaning

It is best to start with a hand brush and use it to clean the facade once. This will quickly remove dust, cobwebs and fine dirt. Next, turn your attention to the roof. Rinse it thoroughly with a garden hose. If there are places where the dirt is more stubborn, feel free to use a sponge to help. Just use the water from the tap for this purpose. After the roof has been cleaned, it's time for the facade. Here, too, the garden hose helps quickly and efficiently.
Important: We strongly advise against the use of a high-pressure cleaner, as there is a risk of damaging the grain of the wood.

Impregnation: The basic protection

If your wood product is not impregnated at the factory, it is absolutely necessary to impregnate it yourself. This is because impregnation ensures that moisture cannot penetrate the open-pored structure of the wood. In addition, it is the optimal protection against insects and mold.

Brush out, now comes the painting

How often you should maintain your garden shed with a new coat of paint depends first of all on the location. If it is very exposed to weather conditions, painting every two years is recommended. If your garden house is more protected, a renewal every four years is sufficient. Ultimately, however, it is of course also your personal taste that decides: Do you want the garden shed to show its age or should it always look like new? However you handle it, it is important to clean and sand it before each painting so that the new layer of paint adheres optimally to the wood.
